More on Pennies for Change
Have you ever wanted to make a contribution to your community but didn’t think the amount you could give would make a difference? United Way is teaming up with credit and debit card issuers across the country so you can make a big difference with small change.
The idea is simple. The Pennies for Change™ program allows you to donate one penny every time you use your credit or debit card. Every month, your credit or debit card issuer will tally the number of times you used your card and a penny for each transaction will be deducted from your account. You will see a line item on your monthly statement reflecting your donation. Your credit or debit card issuer will then send that donation to United Way.
These donations will provide much needed financial support to fund your local United Ways and will benefit the communities in which you live. These funds will also be used to support United Way initiatives such as Financial Stability Partnership (which helps people to get out of debt and gain assets); Success by 6 (which helps children enter kindergarten ready to learn and excel); and the 2-1-1 health and human services telephone hotline (which connects callers to free charitable assistance).
