Calorie Quiz | 10,000 Step Challenge

Being active helps you build strong bones and muscles, and it helps give you more energy to do other things. Doctors say you should try to exercise at least 60 minutes every day, but who says you have to play sports or work out to be fit? There are a lot of great ways to add some activity to your day, and you don't need to set aside a whole hour to do it. Instead, try being physically active for just 10 minutes at a time at different points throughout the day. It only takes six 10-minute breaks to add up to 60 minutes. To help you accomplish that goal, we've come up with some ways to fit fitness into your day.

Before School - Do some stretches or yoga for five minutes. Then spend five minutes alternating between sets of push ups and sit-ups. It's a great way to start the day.

At Lunch Time - Walk the stairs or take a walk. The activity will give your body energy to help make it through the rest of the school day.

After School - Take the dog for a walk, or take a walk around the block. If walking seems boring, make it into a game: create a scavenger hunt or play I-spy.Take the dog for a walk, or take a walk around the block. During Homework - Take a 10-minute break for every half an hour you spend on homework. The activity will give your brain a boost and make it easier for you to focus and learn.

While Doing Chores - To make chores seem less like a bore, don't think of them as work but as exercise. And listen to music while you clean your room, or mow the lawn, or wash the dishes. You'll be amazed at how much faster the time flies when you're listening to your favorite tunes. Or better yet, dance along and get even more exercise.

After Dinner - If you usually spend this time watching TV, instead of flipping through the channels or getting up for a snack during the commercial breaks, use this time for fitness breaks. Do some jumping jacks, walk up and down the stairs, or march in place.

Or to really get a workout, pedal an exercise bike or walk on a treadmill while you watch your favorite programs.

There, you've done it! You spent 60 minutes of your day getting the exercise you need. Now, that wasn't so hard was it?
