Developing young leadership is critical to the future success of communities. Today, young adults are important volunteers, advocates and donors on campus and in the community. Tomorrow, they will be the employees, leaders, and investors who are essential to our communities’ continued success. 

United Ways across the country work closely with student leaders and college campuses to advance the common good in the areas of Education, Income, and Health. Student United Way is the student-led community change club on college and university campuses through which student leaders Give, Advocate, and Volunteer to advance the common good.The following resources will help your United Way get started with Student United Way and working with campuses generally.

  • Campus Engagement listserv – Receive a weekly digest of news, tips, and promotions associated with United Way campus engagement.  Email campus@unitedway.org and request to sign up. 
  • Student United Way – see our “Starting Your Student United Way” Guidebook and the Student United Way one pager
  • “LIVE   UNITED on Campus” brand book The LIVE UNITED on Campus Brand Book is an accessible, fun, and visual way to helps students, campuses, and United Ways bring LIVE UNITED to campus. Find it online here.  
  •  Customizable versions of select resources are available for your use, as well.Contact campus@unitedway.org to request them.
  •  United Way Alternative Spring Break – young adults LIVE UNITED by contributing their Spring Break as a week of service.In 2009, more than 300 young adults volunteered over 12,000 hours and raised $22,000 to advance the common   good.
  •  United Way Nextour monthly newsletter for students, young adults, and everyone who wants to LIVE UNITED.  United Way Next helps young people stay connected with us as they move communities.
