Campus Engagement

Developing young leadership is critical to the future success of communities. Today, young adults are important volunteers, advocates and donors on campus and in the community. Tomorrow, they will be the employees, leaders, and investors who are essential to our communities’ continued success. United Way of America is providing national leadership by engaging young people nationwide through the launch of Student United Way, a student-led community change organization on college campuses and nationally sponsored programs. These efforts include:

• United Way Alternative Spring Break
• United Way Challenge on Facebook Causes

While developing leadership and professional skills, young people are helping United Way advance the common good by focusing on the building blocks of a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, income that supports a family through retirement, and good health. In return, United Way is developing lifelong relationships with the next generation.
