Since we launched our program in 2006, more than 1,200 young adults have participated in our alternative break program. In 2009, more than 300 students volunteered over 12,000 hours and raised $22,000 to advance the common good in the focus areas of Education, Income, and Health. We recognize that the young adults who have participated made a huge difference through their volunteer efforts in ASB, yet it represents only a small fraction of what they accomplish year-round.
United Way is offering all ASB alumni and leaders from Student United Ways the chance to make an even more significant impact and help increase the scope and scale of ASB by signing up as an ASB Team Leader. In this role you will have an important leadership role in your program, helping to plan, frame and execute an ASB for a team of dedicated peers.
Team Leaders will take part in biweekly webinars designed to give you the information, skills and tools you’ll need to effectively design and manage a productive ASB program. You’ll also get the chance to work with your ASB team for several weeks leading to your trip and help to prepare them and the host community for an incredible experience!
If you’re interested in playing a vital role in our organization please apply by clicking here.
We look forward to working with you again to make a difference in communities across America! If you have further questions about becoming an ASB Team Leader, please email us at ASBQuestions@uwa.unitedway.org.
