Roger S. Goodell, Commissioner of the National Football League, joined New England Patriots owners Robert and Myra Kraft, United Way Worldwide President and CEO Brian Gallagher and Michael K. Durkin, President of United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley at a reception last night at Gillette Stadium to celebrate the longtime NFL-United Way partnership, one of the longest-running public service announcement campaigns in history. For more than 35 years, United Way and the NFL and its teams have been working together to strengthen communities across America.
More than 60 youth from agencies throughout Greater Boston and Rhode Island recently got a chance to run drills at Gillette Stadium with the New England Patriots as part of the NFL/United Way Hometown Huddle—a series of volunteer projects implemented by NFL players and United Ways in all 32 NFL markets nationwide. As part of United Way’s 10-year goal to increase by one-third the number of youth who are healthy and avoiding risky behaviors, NFL Play 60 and United Way are working together to provide new, fun opportunities for young people to lead healthier lifestyles.
